Oh, what happened to the days when bands like Led Zeppelin were on top, selling out concerts and making incredible music, when Hendrix was still alive and wailing, before they shot Lennon and his ideas of peace, love, and music. When people like Kurt Cobain and Elliott Smith were out defining a generation. The kind of musicians that you look back on realizing just how much they mean to you, how their songs always seemed to find a perfect match to your emotion, and your everlasting gratitude to them for always being there for you,
all you have to do is hit play.
Which brings me to today's standard of a great artist, when you don't actually need any type of musical talent to sell out concerts, set up a sturdy tween fan base, and sell your soul to Walmart.

I've never been a fan of the artists who don't write their own songs. On Miley Cyrus' first CD she had 10 writers. So you can technically blame them. Namely http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonina_Armato since she wrote most of the top songs. But its hard to ignore the bands who write their own lyrics....Coldplay remains the most listen to band on Last.fm this year. While tweens might flock to whatever hits the radio, normal people will always stick to other things. Miley is an annoying fad. Look how the boy band era went. Ew.

I agree, its always been a business, its always been the "fad" the "now" music, but at the same time, i just have to believe there was a time when even that could be looked past, because the music was amazing, transpired all that, today, completely different
i cant sing a note, but if i made myself up, made myself an "it" girl, im signed, even if my dads not the achy breaky heart guy.
